Young Talent Prepares for the Future with “The Future Project”
Akcoat has once again completed “The Future Project,” its internship programme designed for final-year undergraduate and graduate students. Participants gained hands-on work experience by applying their theoretical knowledge and taking active roles in real projects.
With nearly half a century of experience and production across five main product groups—enamel, ceramic, non-stick and decorative coatings, glass and pigments—Akcoat sustains its industry leadership not only through technological innovation but also through opportunities offered to young talent. As part of this vision, “The Future Project,” which has supported the career development of young people since 2018, was successfully completed once again this year. Designed to help participants discover and develop their potential and take confident first steps in their careers, the programme enabled interns to build skills in project management, teamwork, analytical thinking and problem solving while gaining experience in a real business environment across different departments. Throughout the programme, participants also met industry leaders and other talented students, built strong professional networks and took active roles in real projects in addition to putting their theoretical knowledge into practice. This year’s participants—Berhan Can, Gökçesu Özgün, İpek Gündüz, Semih Karaağaç, Berkem Güzel, Sevcan Ünal, Meltem Güven and Elif Yıldız—wrote their own The Future Project stories. Sevcan Ünal, named this year’s The Future Project winner, joined the Pigment R&D team as a Junior Pigment R&D Specialist, where she had completed her internship project.
The Programme Will Continue Next Year
Akcoat plans to continue The Future Project next year. The company has started accepting applications for the new term and is looking for final-year undergraduate and graduate students who are confident in their English, have strong analytical and planning skills and describe themselves as true team players. The programme mainly attracts students studying chemistry, industrial engineering, metallurgy and materials engineering, and the new cohort is expected to begin the programme in October.
