The First "Zero Waste Theme Park" Opened with Akcoat Products
The "Zero Waste Theme Park," the first of its kind in Turkey, was established by the Kocaeli Başiskele Municipality under the "Zero Waste Initiative" led by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. The park features stunning works of art created with glass blocks, frit wastes, and tile wastes from Akcoat's sustainable efforts.
The park, located in Yeşilkent Mahallesi, Kocaeli, was a project by the Başiskele Municipality as part of the Zero Waste Initiative. Akcoat supported this project with its eco-friendly strategies, providing recycled glass, frit, and tile wastes for the park's construction.
Recycled wastes come to life in the Zero Waste Park.
Through sustainable production strategies at Akcoat facilities, separated glass blocks, tiles, and frit wastes were transformed into art pieces in the park. Under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nermin Demirkol from the Ceramic Department of Kocaeli University's Faculty of Fine Arts, Akcoat's materials were used decoratively throughout the park.
At the inauguration of the Zero Waste Theme Park, the first of its kind in Turkey, a plaque was presented to Murat Halat, Akcoat's Business Excellence Manager, in recognition of their collaboration.
The park covers a total area of 2,900 square meters, consisting of seven sections, each 108 square meters in hexagonal shape. It includes a section where children, youth, and people of all ages can engage in workshops, fostering zero waste awareness while enjoying their time.
