Strong Performance from Akcoat in Turkishtime’s “R&D 500” Ranking
Akcoat, one of the leading companies in the chemical industry, achieved another success with its R&D projects in 2024. In Turkishtime’s “R&D 500” study, which ranks Türkiye’s companies with the highest R&D spending, Akcoat placed 235th. The company also ranked 79th in the “Top 100 by Number of Projects” list and 11th in the “Top 50 National Patents” list, once again demonstrating its strength not only in production, but also in knowledge, technology and innovation development.
With nearly half a century of experience and production across five main product groups—ceramic, enamel, glass, non-stick decorative coatings and pigments—Akcoat, one of Türkiye’s leading advanced chemicals manufacturers, continues to reinforce its leadership in R&D year after year. In the 12th edition of Turkishtime Magazine’s “Top 500 Companies by R&D Expenditure in 2024” study, Akcoat ranked 235th. In the same research, it placed 79th in the “Top 100 by Number of Projects” list and 11th in the “Top 50 National Patents” list. These results provide a concrete indication of Akcoat’s determination to combine its production strength with R&D and innovation capacity and reinforce its pioneering position in the industry.

TRY 58 Million Invested
Serving more than 65 countries across six continents, Akcoat develops performance-driven innovative solutions through its strong R&D team and well-equipped center. Continuing its work on new products, designs and technologies that create value for the Turkish economy, Akcoat employed 48 R&D personnel in 2024, carried out 33 projects and registered 12 patents. Total R&D expenditure reached TRY 58.712 million. To date, the company has successfully completed 200 R&D projects, registered 28 patents and contributed to scientific literature through 117 international publications and papers. Akcoat commissioned its R&D Center in Sakarya in 2021 with a major global investment of approximately USD 10 million. Covering 10,000 m², the campus is home to one of Türkiye’s largest R&D centers and includes dedicated laboratories for enamel, ceramic, non-stick and decorative coatings, glass coatings and pigments, as well as characterization and analysis laboratories that enable materials to be examined from a 360-degree perspective.
