Akcoat Shared Sustainable Business Models at Sustainable Brands Türkiye 2025
At “The ROI of Sustainability” panel held as part of Sustainable Brands Türkiye 2025, Akcoat highlighted the tangible contributions of sustainability investments to business, society and the environment. Speaking at the panel, Akcoat Ceramic Coatings Sales Director Ömer Faruk Şen explained how R&D-driven coating solutions extend product life, reduce energy and material consumption, and how small improvements from the field can create a major chain effect.
With nearly half a century of experience and production across five main product groups—ceramic, enamel, glass, non-stick decorative coatings and pigments—Akcoat, one of Türkiye’s leading advanced chemicals manufacturers, was among the sponsors of the Sustainable Brands Türkiye 2025 conference held at Swissotel The Bosphorus on 8–9 October 2025. Akcoat was represented by Sales Director Ömer Faruk Şen as a sponsor speaker at the panel titled “The ROI of Sustainability: Good Growth and Corporate Resilience” on the Activation Hub stage. Moderated by Murat Günaydın, Deloitte Türkiye Sustainability Services Leader, the panel explored the returns sustainability creates for business, society and the planet.
“Every Product Tells a Sustainability Story”
Şen opened his remarks by asking participants, “Have you ever read the sustainability report of any product you are touching right now?” He emphasized that sustainability gains meaning beyond figures in reports through tangible improvements that touch daily life. Sharing examples of the environmental, social and economic impact of sustainability investments within Akcoat’s B2B business model, Şen noted that technologies that extend product life and efficiency-focused practices are an integral part of Akcoat’s culture.
Şen stated that Akcoat is the market leader in Türkiye and the world’s second-largest enamel coating producer, with products reaching more than 65 countries. Highlighting R&D investments, he said: “Thanks to our R&D investments, we have extended product life, reduced material waste and achieved annual water savings of 10,000 tons. The coatings we develop improve durability while reducing energy and water consumption in production. This is exactly where the real ROI of sustainability emerges.”
“We Create Tangible Financial Value Through Our Perspective”
In his speech, Ömer Faruk Şen also drew attention to shrinking sales volumes during a period of economic contraction. Asking the audience, “In such a landscape, the key question is this,” Şen continued: “Is good growth achieved only through sales, or can it also be built on strong foundations? At Akcoat, we saw this period as an opportunity to look in the mirror. We examined where we created efficiency, where we experienced losses and what we did right. What we saw was that even the smallest steps can create the biggest differences.” Şen noted that small but effective employee improvements generated USD 680,000 in direct returns through projects born from this culture in 2024, adding: “We foresee a potential contribution exceeding USD 2 million in the coming period. With our sustainability perspective, we will continue to create tangible financial value. This success was made possible by transforming ideas from the field into real value through team motivation.”
