Standing out in its industry with a focus on sustainability, quality and safety, Akcoat once again demonstrated its commitment to occupational safety through a range of activities organized for 2025 Occupational Health and Safety Week. Akcoat views occupational health and safety not simply as compliance with rules, but as a core element of its corporate culture.

Among the activities held during Occupational Health and Safety Week, a coloring event organized for employees’ children stood out. Welcomed at the factory on 3 May, the young guests enjoyed specially prepared Akcoat Occupational Safety Coloring Books. The importance of safety was introduced through colors, allowing critical concepts to meet children’s imagination and helping build safety awareness from an early age.

On 8 May, Akcoat met with students from the Occupational Health and Safety Department of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences and organized a training programme titled “Safe Steps in Working Life: Work Safely, Live Healthily.” The programme shared occupational safety practices, field experience and industry dynamics with young professionals preparing to enter the sector. Participants contributed fresh and inspiring ideas to discussions covering all dimensions of a safe working culture.

At the closing programme on 9 May, all employees came together for quizzes, personal protective equipment demonstrations and hazard-hunting activities. Through a full week of both theoretical and practical activities, Occupational Health and Safety Week was celebrated with the active participation of the entire Akcoat family.

Akcoat made significant investments in occupational health and safety in 2024, increasing employee awareness through virtual reality (VR)-based training and supporting systematic development by providing IOSH-certified training to 23 managers and technical employees. The company also continued industry knowledge-sharing through field introduction programmes for occupational health and safety students at Sakarya University.

Emphasizing the importance of occupational health and safety for the company, Acting General Manager Ömer Semiz concluded: “Occupational health and safety is not merely a set of rules to follow; it is one of the fundamental building blocks of sustainable success. Through our commitment in this field, we have achieved a meaningful reduction in workplace accidents. With a continuous-improvement mindset, we will continue to further advance a culture of safe working both in the field and in the office.”
