Smart Fertilizer Technologies for the Future of Agriculture: Akcoat R&D Next Seminar Series - Session One

Akcoat’s R&D Next seminars have begun to address future solutions and technological advancements. The first session covered "Smart Fertilizer Technology and Sustainable Agriculture," bringing together participants from all Akkök Holding group companies. The event, held on March 22, 2022, in the Akcoat R&D Center Conference Hall, featured a presentation by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Başaran from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University’s Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition.

Prof. Dr. Başaran highlighted the importance of smart fertilizer technologies in the context of shrinking agricultural lands due to climate change and increasing population. He emphasized that these technologies represent a critical R&D area for ensuring food and soil security in the future. Advantages of sustainable fertilizer solutions include increasing crop yield, avoiding over-fertilization, and preventing contamination of groundwater. Prof. Dr. Başaran underscored the potential of slow-release phosphorus fertilizers like Akcoat SRF-P to enhance soil fertility, stating that such fertilizers could play a significant role in agricultural production by preventing the rapid deactivation of phosphorus in the soil.
