Akcoat Wins First Place in Innovation Category at Alfa de Oro Award

Spanish chemical coatings manufacturer Akcoat has announced that it won first place in the "Innovation" category at the recent Alfa de Oro awards. The project, "LessBox: Sustainable Packaging for Inkjet Ceramic Inks," brought this prestigious award to Akcoat.

At the ceremony held in Valencia, Spain, Akcoat was recognized for its innovative and sustainable packaging system developed for inkjet ceramic printing inks. The company’s General Manager, Juan del Casar Ximenez, accepted the award on behalf of Akcoat.

LessBox: An Innovative Approach to Sustainable Packaging

The "LessBox" project, developed in collaboration with Hinojosa Packaging Solutions, significantly reduces the environmental impact of inks used in the ceramic industry and greatly minimizes waste. This innovative packaging system stands out for being 100% recyclable and reducing plastic usage in existing packages by up to three times.

The packaging system used in the project facilitates the mixing and usage of inks while providing logistical advantages in the supply chain. This project adopts an eco-friendly approach in the ceramic industry, significantly reducing plastic waste and contributing to sustainability goals.
