Akcoat Develops PIXELECT for a More Sustainable Future
Black plastics are being recycled with PIXELECT. Developed by Akcoat, PIXELECT is a sustainable plastic colorant that makes products detectable by Near Infrared Reflection (NIR) devices. This allows products colored with PIXELECT to be more easily identified in recycling processes. Black plastics, which are often discarded due to difficulties in separation, can be economically recovered with PIXELECT. Unlike 'carbon black' pigments, PIXELECT is designed to reflect light from NIR devices. Normally, plastics colored with black pigments are not detected by commonly used NIR devices, leading to recyclable plastics ending up as waste.
Plastics colored with PIXELECT are detectable, enabling them to be sorted in recycling, contributing economically and environmentally.
PIXELECT Suitable for Food Contact
PIXELECT, with its high color fastness and compliance with DIN-13900-5 dispersion standards, is used for plastic coloring. It stands out as an environmentally friendly pigment and is suitable for food contact. PIXELECT meets FDA 178.3297 standards and complies with the European Council's AP (89)-1 standards for food contact plastics. It can be safely used in plastic kitchenware, toys, and cosmetics.
